Itinerary
Sunday, March 14th:
Arrive at annex at 7 am. (14611 Wells Port Dr, Austin, TX 78728)
Leave Austin at 8 am
Lunch at Grover Nelson Park (2070 Zoo Ln, Abilene, TX 79602)
Arrive in Amarillo at 6 pm ( Jack Bryant Scout Center, 1615 Bellaire Street, Amarillo, TX 79106 )
Monday, March 15th:
Leave 8 am and arrive at Santa Fe at noon.
Pick up snowshoes at REI in Santa Fe at 2 pm. (500 Market St Ste 100, Santa Fe, NM 87501)
Lunch at Torreon Park (1515 W Alameda St)
Arrive Chama, NM at 5 pm.
Stay overnight at Chama Trails Inn (2362 NM-17, Chama, NM 87520, (575) 756-2156)
Tuesday, March 16th:
Groups 1 & 2: The trailhead is on Co. Highway 17 at Cumbres Pass
Group 1 snowshoes 4.5 miles to Flat Mountain Yurt
Group 2 snowshoes 4.5 miles to Trujillo Meadows Yurt
Group 3: The trailhead is on Co. Highway 17 at the Red Lake Trail trailhead (0.7 miles south of La Manga Pass)
Group 3 snowshoes 4 miles to Grouse Creek Yurt
Wednesday, March 17th:
Groups
Group 1: snowshoes 4 miles to Trujillo Meadows Yurt
Group 2: snowshoes 4 miles to Flat Mountain Yurt
Group 3: remains at Grouse Creek Yurt
Thursday, March 18th
All hike back to trailheads on county highway 17. Meet back at the hotel in Chama.
Shop for groceries at Lowe's Grocery Store (US-64 Chauma, New Mexico, across the street from hotel)
Stay overnight at Chama Trails Inn.
Friday, March 19th
Leave Chama, NM
Drive to Santa Fe to return snowshoes. (2 hours + 30 minutes tax = 2.5 hours)
Lunch at Torreon Park (1515 W Alameda St)
Drive to Palo Duro Canyon State Park (5 hours + 1 hour (20% tax) = 6 hours)
Saturday, March 20th
Explore Palo Duro Canyon SP
Sunday, March 21st
Drive home to Austin (7.5 hours + 1.5 hours tax = 9 hours)
Leave Palo Duro at 7 am
Lunch in Abilene at Grover Nelson Park (2070 Zoo Ln, Abilene, TX 79602)
Arrive in Austin at 4 pm
