Location: Dinosaur Valley State Park

What: two-night car camping + hiking trip


Friday, November 18th

  • Meet at Annex at 6 pm, leave by 6:30 pm

  • Have dinner at Buc-ees (4155 N General Bruce Dr, Temple, TX 76501) (1 hr drive)

  • Arrive at Dino Valley (1629 Park Rd 59, Glen Rose, TX 76043) around 10:00 pm (2 hr drive)

  • Set up camp and lights out at 10:30 pm

Saturday, November 19th

  • Wake up at 7 am

  • Make and be done with breakfast by 9 am

  • Start the Cedar Breaks hike 7.5 miles

  • Have lunch at 12 pm

  • Finish the Cedar Breaks hike, head back to camp, and relax

  • Make and enjoy dinner

  • Play games and have dessert!

  • Lights out at 10:30 pm

Sunday, November 20th

  • Wake up at 7 am and start breaking down camp

  • Make and be done with breakfast by 9 am

  • Explore around the park/look at dino tracks

  • Have lunch at camp and finish loading the cars

  • Leave Dino Valley by 1:30 pm

  • Arrive at Annex around 4 pm (2:45 hr drive)

  • Dinner: Buc-ees !

Saturday, November 19th

  • Breakfast: pancakes

      • ingredients: just add water normal mix, gluten-free mix, syrup, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, and chocolate chips

  • Lunch: wraps and pasta salad

      • ingredients:

        • wraps: spinach wraps, spinach, hummus, packaged guacamole, deli sliced chicken, shredded cheese, roma tomatoes, and sweet bell peppers.

        • carnivore pasta salad: pasta, italian dressing, salami, pepperoni, bell pepper, mozzarella, artichokes*, banana peppers*

        • good pasta salad (james's words): pasta, italian dressing, olives, tomatoes, bell peppers, banana peppers, artichoke, mozzarella

      • recipe for the wraps

  • Dinner: fancy mac & cheese

  • Dessert: banana pudding

      • ingredients: banana pudding, bananas, vanilla wafer cookies, and whipped cream

Sunday, November 20th

  • Breakfast: breakfast tacos

      • ingredients: flour tortillas, corn tortillas, eggs, shredded cheese, salsa, potatoes, onions, and bell peppers.

  • Lunch: sandwiches

      • ingredients: bread, gluten-free bread, sliced ham, sliced turkey, sliced cheese, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce.
